The lessons of the past give us clues to what we should look to for the future.
Brian Fagan explains how archaeology, anthropology and the study of ancient eras contribute to our comprehension of Climate Change. If you combine the long-term view with the view of today, you get a unique picture of how humans have adapted to ancient climate change - Mr. Fagan says at the International Workshop The Social Dimension of Adaptation to Climate Change in Venice

ARCHAEOLOGY: Broken pottery, glass, tobacco pipes and other items are frequent finds in towns and villages around England. By studying the shapes and patterns we can build up a picture of general household items used in previous Centuries as well as sometimes tracing the origin of manufacture. This information can be useful to archaeologists. This Video presentation covers a small group of items found near the City of Exeter in Devon, England.

The treasurse is dated between the 1st century BC - 1st century AD.
As Romanian archaeologist I.H. Crisan remarked, the female dresses depicted on the phalerae are almost identhicall to those used by Romanian peasant woman in rural areas until the 1950`s.

Now we head to Hubei Province in Southern China, where archaeologists discovered an ancient tomb filled with priceless relics early last year.

Unfortunately for the archaeologists, recently uncovered evidence suggests that they might not be the first ones to have found the tomb.

Stateline Petroglyph Site

This video shows some of my work on a petroglyph site that I found near El Paso, Texas in January 2010. The linear petroglyphs are found on limestone bedrock and are very difficult to see under normally lighting conditions. To reveal the details of the petroglyphs, a series of mildly convergent stereo pair images were collected to create a high-resolution 3D model of the glyphs. The process produced a 0.5 millimeter 3D model of the surface of the bedrock. Several pecked lines are apparent in the 3D model that are not easily visible otherwise.

Vikings in a meeting with a hilarious twist...
Director: Per Tomas Govertsen
In Northern Norway during the Iron-age, there were about 10-15 Chiefdoms, one of which was at Borg in Lofoten. This is the only place where a Chieftains farm is found. Excavations shows that it was established around 500 AD. Experience the reconstructed longhouse, craftsmen at work, join in the activities, row the Viking ship, see the smithy, an exhibition of original artefacts, animals of ancient breed, café and museum shop. Maybe even a Viking will appear?

A classic scene from the eerie vintage short-film adaptation of the M.R James Story, 'A warning to the Curious'. This is the scene where the amateur archaeologist meets a mysterious local guardian. But not before he warns him with the words

'no digging here'.
