Caherconnell Stone Fort, situated 1km south of Poulnabrone dolmen in the heart of the Burren Ireland , offers you the opportunity to visit an exceptionally well - preserved example of the stone forts or stone ringforts, which are to be found in the Burren Ireland.. The fort is in its original state. Its position, overlooking virtually all-surrounding areas suggests a defensive settlement.

The South Circle was reconstructed by the Time Team in 2005. Their reconstruction was built on flat ground - this model illustrates the challenges of building the same reconstruction on a slope (that is, the challenges faced by the original builders - not by me. I was never further than 50 feet away from a radiator, bed or fridge when I did my version).

A short film of the excavation of a 8000-9000 years old bone point. It was found at the raised peat bog Rönneholms mosse in Scania, southern Sweden 2008-08-07. The point was probably used as part of a leister or a fish spear. Parts of resin could be seen at one end. http://www.stenalder.se

Joyce White, co-Director of the Middle Mekong Archaeological Project (MMAP), talks about the origins of the project and gives an overview of the test excavations the team has conducted at a series of cave/rockshelter sites in northern Laos since 2007. Dr. White is interviewed during the 2010 season at a cave called Tham An Mah near a village called Ban Xieng Mouk just outside of Luang Prabang. The excavation yielded several important Iron Age discoveries that will shed light on MMAP's research on human prehistory in this under-studied region of the world. A new pyramid has just been discovered in Egypt. Egyptian archaeologists announced they have discovered the remains of a pyramid built for an ancient queen over 4,000 years ago. The pyramid was found south of Cairo about two months ago. It was buried in the desert near the famous Step Pyramid. It is thought to house the remains of Queen Sesheshet who was the mother of King Teti from the Sixth Dynasty.

Underwater archaeologists surveying the worlds oldest submerged town have found ceramics dating back to the early Bronze Age. This suggests that Pavlopetri, off the southern Laconia coast of Greece, was occupied some 5000 years ago making the site even more important than first thought. The Pavlopetri Underwater Archaeology Project, involving the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and The University of Nottingham, aims to establish when the site was occupied, what it was used for and through a systematic study of the geomorphology of the area, how the town became submerged. Dr Jon Henderson, from the Department of Archaeology, takes up the story. From http://www.youtube.com/user/NottmUniversity
